Galilee is a church that helps. This page is a clearinghouse of ways you can give back to the local community through Galilee, the church you love and trust, during the coronavirus pandemic.
Galilee Mask Makers
- Are you a mask maker?
- We’re joining forces with the Loudoun County PPE Makers to make Personal Protective Equipment for healthcare and front line workers as well as high-risk individuals and families in the county
- Homemade masks and surgical caps of any design are accepted, adult or child sizes
- Masks can be dropped off at Galilee in the marked bins outside of the main church doors
- Bins will be out Mondays – Thursdays, 9am to 3pm
Family Break Bags
While Loudoun County schools are physically closed, we are committed to supporting our Backpack Buddies families through the rest of the school year and the summer months. There are several ways you can help.
A Target Charity Gift Registry has been created and you can donate items at this link. Items can be shipped directly from Target or you can utilize this list to make purchases on your own.
Bags can be dropped off at Galilee Church, Monday-Thursday, 9am to 3pm
How to assemble a Family Break Bag:
Purchase a NEW reusable bag. Wegmans/Walmart/Harris Teeter/Target reusable bags are great!
Inside that bag, place:
1 full size box of cereal
1 full size peanut butter
1 large can of chicken
1 lb. dry pasta
1 tomato based canned item (sauce, paste, etc.)
1 lb. dry rice
1 lb. dried beans
1 can fruit
2 cans vegetables
If you’d prefer to donate money, we’ll accept donations and put together bags at the cost of $15 per bag. Please give electronically or by mail.
COVID Community Fund
Galilee started the Covid-19 Community Assistance Fund in order to help anyone in our congregation or local community who has been directly affected by the coronavirus crisis.
The fund will run in tandem with our Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, which is a long-running fund maintained to support people in life’s crisis moments.
In establishing this fund, Pastor Jason Duley says, “The effects of Covid-19 will be economic, as well as physical. Some of the effects will be ongoing for a considerable time. If you feel led to give, above and beyond your regular giving, I’d be so grateful.”
“We’ll be doing this all year.,” Pastor Jason explains. “So I hope you, like me, will feel *extraordinarily blessed* to be part of a church that is generous, above and beyond. Galilee always steps up when there is a need. And this season, during this health crisis, we will continue to give.”
To donate to the Covid-19 Community Assistance Fund, just write “Covid Fund” in the memo of your check mailed and payable to Galilee UMC, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling VA 20165 or select “COVID Relief Fund” when choosing your designation at our online giving platform.
Those seeking help through our fund should contact the office at (703) 430-2203 or firstname.lastname@example.org. There is a short application process, which is found here:
