Family Break Bags

April 2020

Loudoun County public school buildings are closed for the rest of the 2019/20 school year.

We are committed to supporting our Backpack Buddies families. There are several ways you can help.

A Target Charity Gift Registry has been created and you can donate items at this link.  Items can be shipped directly from Target or you can utilize this list to make purchases on your own.

When you are ready to donate, please contact Rebecca Makowski, Director of Serve Ministries at rebecca.makowski@galileeumc.org to arrange for drop off.

You can commit to providing a bag/bags at this link: Family Break Bag sign-up.

How to assemble a Family Break Bag:

Purchase a NEW reusable bag (remember that a small child may be carrying this home so extra large bags (eg – Home Goods) aren’t a good match. Wegmans reusable bags are a better match!)

Inside that bag, place:
1 full size box of cereal
1 full size peanut butter
1 large can of chicken
1 lb. dry pasta
1 tomato based canned item (sauce, paste, etc.)
1 lb. dry rice
1 lb. dried beans
1 can fruit
2 cans vegetables

Please be sure to share with those in your network so we can get these bags covered and provide food for families!

After bags are assembled, please contact Rebecca Makowski, Director of Serve Ministries at rebecca.makowski@galileeumc.org for drop off instructions.

You can commit to providing a bag/bags at this link: Family Break Bag sign-up.

If you’d prefer to donate money, we’ll accept donations and put together bags at the cost of  $15 per bag. Please give electronically or by mail.

Thank you,
Rebecca Makowski
