“Fill the Backpack”

UPDATE:

Original story:

Help Galilee Church Fill the Backpack by becoming a Backpack Buddies sponsor. Your donation will purchase a much needed “food item” to help us fill a symbolic backpack that will help to cover the costs for the Backpack Buddies ministry for this school year.

  • For $225, you can provide weekend meal packs for one student for an entire year.
  • For $113, you can provide weekend meal packs for one student for one semester.

You can purchase a “food item” with a check placed in the offering plate with BPB Sponsor in the memo line or at one of our sponsorship drives on 8/25, 9/1 and 9/8 after each worship service.

Or you can donate online: Fill the Backpack.

The Backpack Buddies program provides weekend meal packs to children who, because of low family income level, receive free or reduced-price lunch on school days. Each weekend pack contains 6 meals – 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners and snacks for the weekend.

The Backpack Buddies team work hard  to get things ready for another successful school year.

Galilee UMC’s Backpack Buddies program was established in January 2011, initially supporting 30 students at one school. In the eight years since the program’s inception, Backpack Buddies has grown to serve 400 children at Meadowland, Countryside, Rolling Ridge and Sander’s Corner Elementary Schools, Seneca Ridge Middle School, and Dominion High School.

Backpack Buddies creates smiles all round.
