Local Missions

Loudoun Interfaith Relief

For over ten years Loudoun Interfaith Relief has worked to alleviate hunger in Loudoun County by providing emergency food assistance, and to assist residents in learning to be more self-sufficient and better nourished. The Interfaith Relief Distribution Center located in Leesburg feeds over 1,400 families in need and the numbers are increasing! Galilee has been supporting this mission project for several years through monthly food collection. Empty grocery bags are handed out every last Sunday of the month and they are brought back filled the following Sunday.

Habitat for Humanity

Members of Galilee have participated in the building of houses in the local area. We continue to pursue opportunities to serve when they are available to us.

Mission Possible Week

Mission Possible Week is one week during the summer when our children and youth experience what it means to serve others. The week of activities includes education as well as hands-on mission.

Christmas Outreach

Galilee is a generous congregation and it shows especially at Christmas. We fill stockings, collect hats and mittens, dress teddy bears, and give angel gifts through the Salvation Army as well as participate in Christmas Kettle Bell Ringing. We also support the Kingsway Prison Ministries Apple Tree Project (Kingswayappletree(at)juno.com).

Adopt-a-School

The Missions Minsitry Team decided in 2002 to work with Guilford Elementary School in Sterling Park to assist students who have difficulty purchasing necessary school supplies. This is an on-going project.
