October was Substance Abuse Awareness Month. At Galilee, we are dedicated to helping our youth navigate the challenges they face, including the temptations of drugs and alcohol. On Sunday, October 21, we dedicated our time in Youth Group to this issue. We watched a video made by pop star Demi Lovato, which unflinchingly examined her serious addiction to drugs and alcohol. Then we divided into age-appropriate groups for discussion.
Because this is such a serious topic, we want to make Family Ministry’s resources available to you for discussion at home, in school, or wherever you are.

Galilee Youth Group is like a family where judgement is kicked to the curb and no topic is too hard.
The discussion about faith and substance abuse didn’t end on that night, we hope. If you have any questions, or any concerns about yourself or others, Pam Bentley and the Family Ministry team are here for you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us. Call the office at 703.430.2203 or email Pam, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, we invite you to a broader discussion of mental health issues in January.
