A Christian Perspective on Evil - Human beings from the beginning of time have struggled with the reality and power of evil in the world. Why is there evil? What is it exactly? Where does it come from? Can it bedefeated? Explore ways these questions can be answered. The Reverend Dr. R. Kendall Soulen has been a professor of systematic theology at Wesley Theological Seminary since 1992. He is the author of The God of Israel and Christian Theology and the co-author of Handbook of Biblical Criticism, 3rd Edition, Revised and Expanded.

The Power of Prayer - Recent books like The Prayer of Jabez suggest that prayer is a utilitarian device to keep us healthy and make us wealthy. How does this square with the Lord’s Prayer in which we pray for nothing for ourselves except our daily bread, forgiveness and deliverance from evil? Despite much talk about the power of prayer, prayer in itself has no power. It is God alone who has the power. Therefore a crucial matter is: To what kind of God do we pray? How does this determine the content of our prayers?
