Worship Ministries

The worship ministry is the work of the laity—the people of Galilee UMC—in shared ministry with our professionals—the pastors, church musicians, and other trained worship leaders. Each Sunday morning Galilee has two worship services meant to be alive and vital with God's presence and our active participation. We invite our congregation to become involved in our worship ministries—9:00 and 10:30 AM.

Altar Guild Coordinator: To ensure that paraments, flowers, and sacramental elements are appropriately displayed and/or available as needed.

Commitment: January - December; Weekly and as needed; 2-3 hours per week

Spiritual Gift(s): Serving, Artistry, Administration, Leadership

Communion Server: To assist clergy in distributing communion elements.

Commitment: January - December; Rotating first Sundays of each month; 1 hour weekly

Spiritual Gift(s): Serving

Acolyte: (Must be 4-feet tall and/or in 4th grade.) To carry the light for the worship service and assist pastor(s) as needed.

Commitment: January - December; Rotating Sunday mornings & as need for special events; 1 hour weekly plus training session

Spiritual Gift(s): Serving

Acolyte Coordinator: Oversees the ministry of the acolytes.

Commitment: January - December; Sunday morning oversight, 1-2 yearly training events, weekly notification; 1-2 hours per week plus training session

Spiritual Gift(s): Serving, Administration

Sound System: To facilitate meaningful worship through appropriate sound and to provide audio tapes of worship services for distribution to people who are unable to attend, i.e., home-bound, nursing homes, hospitalized, prison, etc. Support web page ministry as needed.

Commitment: January - December; Sunday mornings and as needed for special events; 1-2 hours per worship event

Spiritual Gift(s): Serving, Craftsmanship

Liturgist 9:00 AM; Liturgist 10:30 AM: To assist in worship through the reading of Scripture and other readings.

Commitment: January - December rotation; Sunday mornings and other occasional needs such as Christmas and Easter; 1-2 hours monthly

Spiritual Gift(s): Teaching, Knowledge, Serving

Dramatic Arts: To enhance worship and other related events through liturgical dramatic skits, puppet shows, liturgical dance, etc.

Commitment: Event; As needed and as inspired; As needed to effectively perform

Spiritual Gift(s): Artistry, Evangelist, Prophecy, Teaching, Serving

Children's "Worship" Baggie Ministry: To provide a welcoming atmosphere to children in worship.

Commitment: January - December; weekly; 1 - 2 hours

Spiritual Gift(s): Serving, Helping
