At the start of the year, Galilee Youth Group wanted to talk about mental health and anxiety, but with a caveat. They didn’t want to talk about it the same way they did at school. Youth Coordinator Lisa Collins shared their discussion with us.

February

Pastor Jason and his wife Jennifer visited the state capital in Richmond in February at the invitation of Loudoun Delegate David Reid. Jason gave the invocation at the General Assembly, opening the day’s legislative session in prayer.

March

Galilee invited dozens of school principals to lunch with local pastors and religious leaders in the spring. The mission? To get to know one another and learn what we can do to foster community and support the next generation.

April

The most extensive building maintenance in years happened in April, when Galilee got its entire roof replaced.

May

Our Confirmation class met throughout the spring and became full members of the church in May.

June

In June, Galilee sent our ninth mission team to Costa Rica. Galilee members have been visiting, helping, and worshipping with our partners at the Iglesia Metodista Palabra Viva (the Living Word Methodist Church) in Carillos since 2006.

July

Without a doubt, the most raucous week of the summer is Vacation Bible School week at Galilee. Whoo boy.

August

One of the sweetest stories we ran in eNews this year was about the Logan family and their much-loved Honda Odyssey. When it was time to let the vehicle go, they made sure it helped a great cause.

Galilee intentionally works with many outside groups to accomplish our mission in the community. In September, we worked with Salamander Resort and the Center for Advanced Defense Studies, a nonprofit that fights human trafficking and illicit networks.

A Christian radio station brought folks to our doorstep in the fall with a parade of cars driving by to collect stickers and other swag. Blessings abounded as we prayed with new friends and witnessed the strength of an invisible faith community all around us—the listeners of WGTS.

Galilee closed out the year in a big way, with all our advent worship services and the spectacular Christmas festival, the Galilee Holiday Bazaar, in aid of Backpack Buddies.
