We are saddened to report that Galilee member Alfred (Fred) Cole passed away on February 8, 2026, at the age of 89.

Alfred was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. He attended the distinguished Methodist Boys’ High School in Freetown, where he was known both for his academic ability and his participation in major sports.

After completing high school, Alfred began his career working with Sierra Leone Airways in Freetown. He later immigrated to the United States to pursue further education and opportunities.

Over the course of his life, Alfred held a variety of positions before establishing himself as a dental technician, a profession through which many in his community came to know him. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Dental Technology from Northern Virginia Community College and later completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.

Alfred was a devoted member of Galilee Church and he was also a proud member of the Freemasons for more than fifty years.

Those who knew Fred remember him as a personable and friendly man who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life and was deeply loved by friends and family alike. He also had a great affection for animals and cherished the companionship of his dogs Billy, Boomer, and Dex over the years.

Alfred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deborah Kainde Cole (née John), who passed away on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016.

He is survived by his daughters Georgiana, Victoria, Esther, Valrie, and Anita, as well as grandchildren, extended family members, and many loved ones who will continue to cherish his memory.
