On February 18, Galilee stepped into the season of Lent in a moving Ash Wednesday service marked by prayer, reflection, and the solemn imposition of ashes. Pastors Mike Plasters and Steven Carr guided the congregation through a worshipful evening that reminded us both of our human frailty and of God’s enduring mercy. With ashes traced in the sign of the cross, we begin the journey toward Easter grounded in repentance, hope, and grace.
The night did not end at the final benediction. In a fitting expression of Galilee’s shared spirit, many stayed behind to help prepare the sanctuary for upcoming work, carefully laying protective paper across the carpet in anticipation of a hydraulic lift that will soon arrive to replace all of our sanctuary lightbulbs. It was a quiet, practical act of service that mirrored the deeper work of the season itself: tending to what has been entrusted to us, together.
