Autumn Day at Cascades Marketplace on Saturday, November 1 was a wonderful celebration of community and a solid boost for Backpack Buddies! The marketplace was bustling with families in costume, local businesses showcasing their wares, a DJ setting the festive mood, and restaurants offering delicious samples.

Participants enjoyed hayrides pulled by two beautiful black horses, with the price of a ride being a food donation to support Backpack Buddies. Everyone left with free shopping bags, smiles, and a warm sense of autumn fun.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the event collected 281 lbs of food—including bread, rice, beans, cereal, and canned fruits and vegetables—plus $136 in cash donations! A special shout-out to Giant Food for contributing 119 lbs of food. These donations will help send nourishing staples home with Backpack Buddies kids over the upcoming holidays.
