God Works in Melodious Ways

December 28, 2014 4:30 pm Published by Leave your thoughts

This advent our sermon series is called “God Works in Melodious Ways.” In a sense, we’re going to let our choir do the preaching, because we’re going to pay special attention to some of the uplifting hymns and carols sung at Christmas time. If you listen carefully to holiday music, you’ll find that there is more in it than frosty snowmen and red-nosed reindeer. There’s good theology, and insight into the nature of our creator God. Galilee pastors Jason Duley and Matt Sergent will bring us the Good News message in distinctly musical form, with each sermon looking at a particular Christmas hymn:

Facing Giants

November 28, 2014 4:25 pm Published by Leave your thoughts

Our sermon series this November focuses on the story of David. Think about it: David and Goliath. David and Saul. David and Bathsheba. David, the man after God’s own heart, faced more “gigantic” challenges than one. So do we, when we encounter stress, debt, disease, dishonesty, and confront our many limitations. Like David, we can have faith that through God, all things are possible. And like David, we can draw upon God’s protection and provision when fighting our battles. We can even be sure that our weaknesses are, for God, a tremendous strength.
The November worship series is called “Facing Giants,” and Pastor Jason Duley will use it as a challenge to us. Can we face adversity with less fear and more faith? The Max Lucado book called FACING YOUR GIANTS will make an excellent companion piece to Jason’s sermons, as well as a solid tool for small groups. Put aside your fear and pick up your faith in God. He still does the impossible and He is waiting to present you with the irrefutable evidence, in your own life, that His mercy and His love are bigger than any giant.

Growing In Faith through Generosity

October 28, 2014 4:17 pm Published by Leave your thoughts

It is stewardship season at Galilee. However this fall we’re not talking about giving to Galilee, but about giving to God through Galilee. Giving cheerfully is the obvious response to the joy that we receive through Christ. We want this church to be a tool for you, a way in which the gifts that dwell within you abundantly can be put to work for His Kingdom. Having received so much from our generous God, we want to be a generous people. Generous not just with our tithes, but with our time and our talents. Giving not just at church on Sunday, but giving ourselves to God every place we find ourselves, every day of the week. Our October sermon series is called Grow in Faith Through Generosity. Over the course of three weeks, Pastor Jason Duley will examine how our response to Christ in giving can transform our walk in this world. This October, come listen and learn again the reward that has already been handed to the cheerful giver.
