This Sunday, June 29, Galilee will commission the teams serving in our three summer (and one fall) missions. As a church called to be the hands and feet of Christ, we give thanks for those stepping out in faith to serve neighbors both near and far.

Jesus commands us to go, to serve, to baptize, to make disciples. In commissioning these teams, we not only send them—we go with them in spirit, prayer, and support, trusting God to work through their service.

Join us this Sunday as we dedicate these missions and celebrate the ways God is using Galilee to share His love with the world:

• Youth Summer Venture – Rising 8th graders through high school seniors will travel July 15–20 to serve with Redwood UMC in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Based at the Redwood Outreach Center, they’ll partner with local organizations in rural Franklin County.

• International Mission Team – We’ll bless our International Mission Team as they travel to the Dominican Republic from July 3–9 to serve with Renewed Hope Missions. This dedicated group has faithfully served in Costa Rica for several years and now embrace a new opportunity, joining our own Jordan Markwood (Director of Music Ministry) on a trip that he’s made many times. We’re grateful for the team’s flexibility and commitment, and we look forward to hearing about the new relationships and meaningful work that emerges from this next chapter in Galilee missions.

• Mercy Hospital Visit – This fall, Galilee member Mario Brathwaite will travel to Sierra Leone to visit our mission partners at Mercy Hospital. He will observe the ongoing work of Helping Children Worldwide—a ministry we have supported, alongside other area churches, since the aftermath of the civil war. His visit will help strengthen our connection to the mission and provide insight into its current impact and needs.

• Youth SummerServe Team – July 7-11 will be a powerful week of faith in action for youth in local mission. Our youth will partner with several impactful organizations, including Mobile Hope, LINK Against Hunger, JK Community Farm, and the Loudoun Homeless Shelter. SummerServe is a chance for students to grow in faith, build friendships, and make a tangible difference right here in our neighborhoods.
