Galilee United Methodist Church has launched a Community Health Days series to support the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of families in our community.
This initiative is made possible through a $5,000 grant from the Virginia United Methodist Foundation, which will help provide medical supplies, hygiene kits, equipment, volunteer support, and educational materials for the program.
Community Health Days will offer free screenings, practical health education, and helpful resources for individuals and families throughout the year.
Our goal is simple: to care for the whole person by connecting neighbors with tools that support healthier lives.
Mental Health Training (Two-Part Series)

These sessions will equip participants with tools to recognize mental health challenges, support loved ones, and connect with appropriate resources.
Flu Preparedness & Chronic Disease Awareness

Hosted during Trunk or Treat at Galilee UMC
This event will provide:
Information on flu prevention and seasonal health
Education on managing chronic diseases
Resources to help families stay healthy through the winter months
General Health Screenings & Nutrition

This event took place during our Palm Sunday Eggstravaganza. Families enjoyed Easter egg hunts and bounce houses while also receiving free health screenings from professionals (doctors and nurses).
Available screenings included:
BMI
Blood pressure
Vision screening
Hearing screening
Blood glucose testing
As we will be focusing on wellness of mind, body, and spirit, Galilee volunteers were available at the event to pray with those who desired God’s intercession.
Dental & Children’s Wellness

In July, we threw a huge Block Party to celebrate our last day of Vacation Bible School. Many kids and families joined us for music, games, bounce castles, and even a taco truck! We also spread the word about keeping children fit and healthy. We distributed toothbrushes and hygiene kits to show we care about our neighbors.
