The Galilee community enjoyed a wonderful day at Algonkian Park this past Sunday, October 23. We walked in support of UMCOR’s relief efforts for the people of Ukraine and had a great time together in the natural beauty of Northern Virginia.

 

We had groups walking multiple trails of varying difficulty alongside the Potomac River. Our youngest walkers enjoyed a scavenger hunt along the way and then were treated to a reading of The Pumpkin Patch Parable as they carved jack o’lanterns. Everyone got to enjoy fellowship time with refreshments.

 

“It was great to see Galilee get out into nature for a good cause,” says Pastor Jason. “Folks enjoyed it, no matter the level of their trail ability or experience.”

 

Children’s Ministry leader Suzie Leftwich agrees. “It was a PHENOMENAL event with fun shared between kids and adults alike. There were seniors there having just as much fun with the pumpkins as kids were.”

 

Participants who registered had the option to donate to UMCOR, so this event raised over $1000 for Ukraine relief. We’re adding that to the $10,400 that we have sent to UMCOR and other relief partners since the war commenced in February.
