Scouting Faith Emblem Classes

Galilee is proud to host the P.R.A.Y. program in support of the Girl Scout Promise and Boy Scout Oath, helping scouts grades 2-12 earn their Scouting Religious Emblem. 
 
P.R.A.Y. (Programs of Religious Activities with Youth) is a not-for-profit organization representing Protestant and independent Christian churches which serves young people hoping to grow in their Christian faith. All scouts are invited to register for these classes; a current affiliation with Galilee Church (or any church) is not necessary. Volunteers will be teaching each class. 
 

The program is broken down as follows:
God and Me (Grades 2-3)
God and Family (Grades 4-6)
God and Church (Grades 6-8)
God and Life (Grades (9-12)

A special recognition is available for young people who complete all four levels of the P.R.A.Y. series.

The P.R.A.Y program at Galilee will be offered virtually via Zoom. The teacher for each level will schedule 4-6 one hour classes between March 1 and March 31.  Please note, scouts must attend each virtual class and participate in all scheduled Zoom activities to be eligible for the award. Workbooks and supplies will be picked up prior to the first class. (Additional details regarding supply pickup to come). There will be a virtual award ceremony at the completion of the program, some time after Easter. 

If your scout would like to participate in this program, register here: Faith Emblem Class Registration. Please choose the class which is appropriate to your scout’s age. There are eight spaces available per class. Registration closes Thursday, February 11, 2021.
 

The cost per scout is $24. This covers the workbook, supplies, and awards. We never want finances to be the reason your child is not involved in the Faith Emblem Class. To discuss financial assistance, contact Rebecca Makowski.

  • Mail: Send a check made out to “Galilee UMC” with “Faith Emblem” in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to Galilee UMC, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling, VA 20165
