On Sunday, April 13, Galilee hosted a Palm Sunday Eggstravaganza, drawing 650 to 700 people to enjoy an afternoon of family fun. The weather was fine, though windy, and spirits were high throughout the event.

Children took part in a series of egg hunts, grouped by age, racing across the church lawn to fill their baskets. Parents and grandparents snapped photos as kids hunted for colorful eggs.

Over 400 free hot dogs were served by a team of tireless volunteers in the gym, where goody bags were also distributed. A popular cookie walk gave guests a chance to win homemade treats, with cookies vanishing quickly as kids made their rounds.

The bounce castle was busy all day and much of our parking lot was zoned off as the “Touch-a-Truck” area, where children climbed aboard a dozen large vehicles, including a fire truck and construction equipment. 

One of the biggest attractions was the petting zoo, where kids got to see animals up close. The noble beasts included a tiny pig, donkeys, a baby cow, goats both large and small, and a wise and ancient tortoise.

Families also lined up for pictures with the Easter Bunny, who was a hit with kids of all ages. A big thank you goes to Sharon Howard-Denny for performing this role.

The event ended with a raffle drawing for a Longaberger Easter basket. Congratulations to Sita, the lucky winner!

Galilee UMC’s Eggstravaganza brought together neighbors, friends, and families for an afternoon of spring celebration. Thanks to all the volunteers and participants who made it possible. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
