“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Last Saturday, May 16, Family Ministry director Christian Lanzaro got in his Ford Explorer and led twenty-one vehicles on an “encouragement caravan” from the church parking lot to the home of three Galilee members in order to show love and support for these senior members of our congregation.
We thank the seventy or so people who visited the Rohrbachs, the Howlands, and Shirley Seitz. We’d have visited one more member, but the intrepid June Fearnow decided she’d rather join the caravan!
It was Shirley’s birthday and she appreciated the caravan singing “Happy Birthday.” Her neighbors saw the depth of love that the church represents in her life. At the Howlands, neighbors lined up on both sides of the street to wave the caravan on.
It was a great showing of faith and friendship.
There was a sweet ending, because the caravan ended at Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in Ashburn…now managed by Galilee staff alum, Bri Jones.
We plan on doing more of these, because Encouragement Caravans are a great way for members of the church to get out and see each other safely. If you’d like to be the recipient of a caravan drive-by, email the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
