Activities

There’s always something going on in Galilee’s wonderful facilities, including events that aren’t church-run. We have classrooms, conference rooms, kitchens, and a gymnasium (Eric’s Place) that regularly host “extracurricular” activities.

Look below at some of the regular activities that happen at Galilee. For information about an activity or to start something new, email our church office: info@galileeumc.org.

Small Groups

As Methodists, we have a long tradition of doing fellowship and Bible study in small groups. Together, we get to know one another and we get to know the Word. That’s how we grow.

Take a look at the list of our current small group offerings. Most meet weekly and there will be a group that is convenient for you to attend. If not, think about starting your own new small group! We’ll help. Email Mike.

Friday Night Line Dancing

Galilee members Bernie and Lydia Vitale lead line dancing lessons every Friday night in the gym from 6:30-9pm. It’s free, but donations of $3 help defray costs.

  • Beginner level starts at 6:45
  • Intermediate level starts at 8:00

New members welcome! Contact Lydia for more info or click here.

Pickleball - Monday and Thursday Nights

Now is a great time to start playing America’s fastest growing sport. Join us for Pickleball every Monday (Intermediate to Advanced players) & Thursday (Beginner to Intermediate players) from 7 to 9pm in the Galilee gym.

Pickleball is perfect for fun and exercise. It is easy to learn. Within minutes, new players at any level of fitness can be playing games. We are actively seeking players new and old.

Drop by on Monday or Thursday night, based on your current skill level.

If you have any questions, contact Tim Frank.

It’s free, but we will accept donations to help cover the cost of the lights & HVAC and to show our appreciation to the church for letting us use the facilities.

Knitting and Crocheting

Do you want to learn how to kit or crochet? Do you know how, but it’s been a while? The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a group of caring knitters and crocheters who make prayer shawls and other worthy projects. They’d be happy to show you how it’s done.

The group’s meetings are on the second Sunday of every month after church, so around 11am, in the small conference room off the Narthex.

For information, contact Carmen Smith. Click here to email Carmen.

Recovery Meetings

Galilee is proud to open its doors to recovery groups who do step work on all types of hurts and addictions. In-person groups meet at the church and some groups also meet online.

For confidentiality, Galilee leaves it to the groups themselves to organize meetings and provide information about their schedules. Click below for information on outside groups who may be of help:

Galilee Book Club

The Galilee Book Club is a group of Christians reading books, not necessarily church books (though we sometimes read those). We do not limit ourselves by genre or topic. Members take turns to choose a book and the group meets monthly for a potluck dinner and discussion at 5pm on the fourth Sunday of the month.

Check out our next selections.

Contact Chris Smith at chris.smith@galileeumc.org for information and to let us know you are coming. All are welcome.
