Small

We want to walk beside you as you find your fit with a group that will build your faith and your network of friends. For information about joining a group or forming a new one, email our church office: info@galileeumc.org. If you have an update to the details of a group listing, please email us here.

We think small groups are the best way to grow in faith, but they are not the only way to learn and grow. Here are some others.

Current Small Group Options

Please check back frequently for any new groups that we might be launching!

Pastor Jason's Tuesday Class

Each Tuesday, Pastor Jason leads Bible classes at Ashby Ponds apartment complex. These sessions are recorded and put on YouTube so that you can follow along as part of the in-person small group or later online at your convenience. Recent topics have included full books of the Bible such as Exodus, Genesis, Psalms, and Matthew. The current class is on Prayer. Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you never miss a class.

Led by Galilee’s senior pastor, Jason Duley. Contact jason.duley@galileeumc.org for more information. Tuesday mornings in person at Ashby Ponds or at your convenience online.

Class with Pastor Beth

Pastor Beth’s class on Mark has come to a conclusion. Check this space for info on forthcoming classes soon.

Beth is a retired pastor who worships with us at Galilee. Contact Beth.Labella@gmail.com

Tuesday Night Sisterhood

The Tuesday Night Sisterhood has had so many friends pop in since we started Zooming during Covid. We’d love to have you join us, too.

Beginning in October, we’ll tackle Jesus and Women: In the First Century and Now, a book-based Bible study with video portions.

The group is lead by Deb Benigni. Email communications@galileeumc.org for more information. We welcome participants from anywhere and from any background.

Wednesday Women's Bible Study

The Wednesday Women’s Bible Study is a group of about ten women who meet weekly to discuss books, share their experiences, offer support, and enjoy much laughter. The door to this group is wide open, so consider joining.

Right now, the group is on summer break. They are reading a study by Jennifer Cowart called Thrive.

The group meets in person in the church on Wednesday, 9:30-11:00am. To join the group or for any other questions, contact Emilie.

Thursday Morning Son-Rise Men's Group

The Son-Rise Men’s Group are early risers meeting at 6:30 am on Thursdays at Galilee. Their study beginning Aug 24 is “30 Days With King David” by Pastor Larry Buxton. Pastor Larry lives locally and has preached at our church, so he will be invited to join in the discussion.

For information and links to access this group, please email tim.frank@galileeumc.org. Thursdays at 6:30am at the church and via Zoom.

Sister's In Christ

Sisters in Christ is a Thursday morning women’s Bible study meeting the first and third Thursday mornings  of each month from 10 to 11:30am in the Adult Flex and on Zoom.

“The Thursday morning Sisters in Christ finished our spring study of The Choice by Dr Edith Eva Egers. We are having our end of year brunch on June 22nd and will begin a new study on the Book of James beginning in September.  We welcome all who wish to join this wonderful group of ladies as we study and grow in faith.”

Previously led by Marcia Martin, the group will now be led by Gwen Bondon. Contact info@galileeumc.org for information about joining.  Thursday mornings (first and third of the month).

“No Prep Required” Thursday Nights

No Prep Required is a vital, virtual small group meeting on Thursday nights at 7pm. They have conversations about faith that you can drop in on. The conversation is topical and tropical—because Chris and Stephanie host this Zoom small group from their home in Costa Rica!

The group is currently reading Sacred Pathways by Gary Thomas.

  • Facilitated by Chris Richter
  • Thursdays, 7:00pm via Zoom

Galilee Book Club

The Galilee Book Club is a group of Christians reading books, not necessarily church books (though we sometimes read those). We do not limit ourselves by genre or topic. Members take turns to choose a book and the group meets monthly for a potluck dinner and discussion at 5pm on the fourth Sunday of the month. Led by Chris Smith, Mario Brathwaite and Jen Shah.

We do things differently at the holidays to avoid meeting over Thanksgiving and Christmas. So our last selection of the year is Off to Be the Wizard by Scott Meyer. We’ll meet to discuss at Galilee in the Adult Flex room @ 5:00pm on Sunday, Dec 3.

Contact Chris Smith at chris.smith@galileeumc.org for information and to let us know you are coming. All are welcome. Check out our next selections.

Galilee Men's Group - (Service Group)

The focus of the Galilee Men’s Group is to support Galilee Church’s missions:

  • Connect – Provide opportunities for men to participate in social activities. These include a “Men’s Night Out” held one Thursday each month at a local restaurant. Other examples include local sporting and cultural events that cater specifically to men’s interests.
  • Grow and Worship – Opportunities exist for participation in weekly small group Bible Study sessions. These weekly sessions are designed to introduce and enhance Galilee Men’s knowledge of the truth of God’s Word.
  • Serve – Provide opportunities to utilize Galilee Men’s skills through participation in large group “serving” events identified by ourselves or Galilee  Church.
