Da’nmusue began by helping just eight people.
For 2026, Galilee is giving $1500 from our mission fund to the Da’nmusue Charity Foundation in order to help impoverished, blind, and otherwise needy residents of Lunsar in Sierra Leone. This charity resonates with us, as the church has a long history of mission in Sierra Leone—and more such international mission opportunities are coming soon.
Individual donations from congregants who took ornaments off our Christmas Mission Tree also went to Da’nmusue to purchase food and cooking oil, among other living staples. These are distributed to low income people with no access to government aid.

Supporting Juliana Kamara and the Da’nmusue Charity Foundation
This year our Mission Tree includes a new opportunity to bless our brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone. Many in our congregation know Juliana Kamara, who has been part of Galilee UMC since 2014. What you may not know is that Juliana has quietly begun a small but powerful ministry in her hometown of Lunsar, in the northern part of Sierra Leone.
Juliana founded the Da’nmusue Charity Foundation earlier this year, naming it in honor of her parents and stepmother. Drawing on her own experiences of hardship and hunger when she was a young woman, she now provides monthly food support to some of the most vulnerable people in her hometown: elderly men and women, a blind neighbor, a young woman in a wheelchair, and others who have little means of support. With the help of family and friends in Lunsar, she purchases and distributes rice, onions, oil, seasonings, and other basic necessities. When medical needs arise, she also assists with treatment costs at the local clinic.
The church has vetted Juliana’s charity foundation and we support it. Galilee’s Mission Fund has committed $1,500 this year to assist Juliana in this work, and we are grateful for her faithful stewardship. To help her reach even more families, we will be adding ornaments with the Da’nmusue logo to our Mission Tree in the narthex beginning Sunday, November 23. Each ornament represents an opportunity to support Juliana’s ministry and to make a direct impact on the lives of people struggling with food insecurity in Lunsar.
As a congregation, we already partner with ministries in the southern part of Sierra Leone through Mercy Hospital and the Child Reintegration Centre in Bo. Supporting Juliana allows us to extend our care to the north as well—one more way that Galilee UMC is helping to shine Christ’s light across Sierra Leone.
