Galilee hosted a community-building event focused on service this past weekend. Love + Give+ Serve was a chance for us to meet new friends and deepen relationships while our hands and feet did the work of Christ.
- 6 fleece blankets were completed for Project Linus (distributes blankets to children and youth in need in northern Virginia through hospitals, emergency personnel, and social service agencies)
- 460 weekend packs were packed for Backpack Buddies families for the Thanksgiving break.
- The youth packed 100 family bags for Backpack Buddies families that evening.
- 225 hygiene kits were assembled for UMCOR and are already at the Mission Central depot in PA, ready to be distributed following any emergency.
- 55 Christmas tree ornaments and cards were decorated for residents at assisted living facilities and those who are home bound.
- The benches in front of the church were cleaned and the Galilee sign at the road was painted.
- The narthex Mission Tree ornaments provided a “grab and go” option. The ornaments explain projects that support the Kingsway ministry for children of incarcerated parents, Backpack Buddies, and Helping Children Worldwide. Ornaments are still available for those interested, just take one off the tree.
- Also available was a prayer walk around the Galilee campus and an online service project…activities that we can make available again when interest grows.
