Pentecost Sunday filled Galilee with warmth and good cheer as members and friends gathered to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Church.

During worship, Pastor Mike brought a moving message of the power of the Spirit in our lives. It’s a Spirit that spurs us on to courage, love, and sacrifice. The Wesley Ringers offered a salute to our nation’s armed forces in recognition of Memorial Day weekend, adding a note of gratitude and remembrance to the morning. Throughout the sanctuary, the traditional Pentecost colors reminded us of the Spirit’s fire and the unity of the Church across generations.

Following worship, the congregation gathered for a Strawberry Social hosted by the Galilee Book Club. The lobby buzzed with conversation as friends old and new shared strawberries, snacks and laughter together. Galilee regular Sharon Howard-Denny went the extra mile, not only wearing red, but dressed as a strawberry! 

Fellowship time was a spirit filled festival in a sea of red.

Pentecost marks the beginning of Galilee’s worship series, Wind and Fire: The Power of the Holy Spirit in Acts. Over the next several weeks, we will hear how the events of Pentecost built up the early church and helped spark a moral and religious revolution throughout the world.

From handbells to hospitality to the passing of the peace, Pentecost Sunday offered a beautiful reminder that the Church is not only a place of worship, but a community brought together by grace, fellowship, and joy.
