Our mission at Galilee UMC is to know Christ and to make Christ known, so it’s no surprise that our pastors spend a lot of time teaching about the Bible and about our Savior.  Every Tuesday Jason Duley, our senior pastor, teaches a class at Ashby Ponds and we put that class up on our YouTube channel, GalileeUnited.

The topic of the class this summer is prayer. It’s called, “Pray First.”

Prayer isn’t always easy. People think it is (“thoughts and prayers” has become something of a byword for doing nothing), but it isn’t.

A lot of people just don’t know what words to use when they want to talk with God. As Pastor Jason explains, while there are no hard and fast rules, there are helpful guides and meaningful traditions that you can add to your prayer life to improve your connection with your faith and your God.

“If I teach on prayer,” says Pastor Jason, “it usually means that fewer people are going to come listen. People will eagerly listen to a class on the Bible or on church history, something academic or at least objective, but are made uncomfortable talking about something as intimate as prayer. I want to put those people at ease.”
