Rise Against Hunger

September 3, 2026

On Saturday, August 29, Galilee’s gym became a meal-packing assembly line as members donned hairnets, rolled up their sleeves, and worked together to pack 15,120 meals for humanitarian relief through Rise Against Hunger.

From 10am to noon, volunteers staffed filling, weighing, and sealing stations, combining rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and essential vitamins and minerals into meal packages designed to be stored and transported easily to communities facing food insecurity around the world.

With nearly 645 million people worldwide facing hunger, Rise Against Hunger works with volunteers like ours to bring food to remote and underserved communities. Each package may look unimpressive by itself, but sent in good time and quantity they help meet immediate nutritional needs while supporting healthier, more resilient futures for people facing desperate circumstances.

Thank you to everyone who filled bags, and weighed, sealed, counted, boxed, and ran supplies between stations. Special thanks goes to Rodney Collins, who was the first volunteer on site and the last to leave. His faithful service, supporting the work of everyone else, made the event possible.

In just two hours, Galilee packed 15,120 meals. That’s what happens when many hands come together to serve.

Hairnets on! Hunger fought!
