There are certain heralds of spring around Galilee UMC. One is warmer weather. Another is the appearance of robins. But the most reliable sign that spring is near is the arrival of Scout Sunday, when our church is full of young persons (and a few not so young) in uniform.

We celebrated Scout Sunday on March 12 this year with girl and boy scouts filling the roles of greeters, ushers, and acolytes. Scouts Hailey Thompson and Luke Makowski served as worship leaders and spoke from the pulpit. Pastor Jason commented during the service that if the future of the church is measured by the young people involved in leadership, then the future looks very bright indeed.

Scouts take up the offering at Scout Sunday

It was a busy weekend for youth in general at the church. Shortly after service concluded, Faith Emblem Classes got under way for scouts looking to learn more about Christianity as a way to earn a faith badge. These classes are organized by our Family Ministry team and taught by volunteers from our congregation.

Scouts were also among those who served at Family Movie Night on Saturday.  We welcomed a crowd of about sixty or so for a showing of “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” and all the popcorn and snacks they could eat. 

We thank all the scouts who served this weekend and the adult leaders and volunteers who lent their wisdom and guidance.
