Seeds are being planted!

In late August, members of Galilee packed 101 book bags with school supplies and meal packs to give to migrant children and their families over the next six months. Why? Because we want them to do well and thrive as members of our community and students in our public schools. We want the love we show them to grow into something beautiful.

The backpacks are even now being distributed. We identified Mustard Seed backpack recipients by working in partnership with Nueva Vida, a Spanish-speaking congregation that meets at Galilee on Saturdays. Pastor Josh Delgado and his church minister to all comers and support new immigrant families striving for a better life in Northern Virginia. Working with Nueva Vida, we aim to break down barriers and foster unity among diverse communities in Loudoun.

Funding for this initiative was provided by the UMCOR Mustard Seed Grant, which provides up to $2000 to local Methodist churches who do ministry among refugees and immigrant families.

Our thanks go out to the many volunteers who helped pack bags on August 25, to Pastor Josh and his network of caring Christians, and to our own Felicia Johnson, who has been tireless in searching for grants that help Galilee UMC help our neighbors.

When we extend our reach into the community, we offer a hand to those who are looking for Christ.
