Prayer is the basis of any spiritual life. Come leave a prayer by our church sign on the corner of Winding Road and Lakeside Drive. There are pens and prayer tags for you to fill out. We’ll collect these prayers and lift them up at our Week of Prayer, September 13-20.

We hung a banner along the highway that says simply, “Pray.” A second banner announces the Seek My Face week of prayer that happens September 13-20 at Galilee, when we are opening our church doors to all who want to come to kneel at our altar or sit in our pews and talk quietly to God.
Roughly 120,000 vehicles will pass this banner every day, and many of those vehicles will be filled with drivers or passengers who don’t get it.
—”Pray? Why?! The world is a mess!”
That’s why we pray.
—”Talk to God? Nobody does that anymore. Nobody believes that.”
We believe. That’s why we pray.
—”Religion is about control. They just want your money.”
Well, we want to control hunger in Loudoun County; we’ll certainly accept your donations for our Backpack Buddies program, which attempts to alleviate some of that! But in a larger sense, religion IS about control. Prayer is about surrendering control by letting go of the illusion that we have to carry all our burdens ourselves, that pain and hardship have the final word in life, and that there’s no reason to hope.
Prayer is about seeking the face of God, who we know pours his powerful Spirit into our lives. Through God, all things are possible.
So we pray to know God. We seek his face to know his will in our lives. This brings us peace, it enriches our lives with inexplicable joy, and causes us to follow Christ in a mission of loving God and our neighbors.
God knows, and we instinctively feel, that the world needs prayer. Maybe not now more than ever, but certainly now as much as ever. During Seek My Face: A Week of Prayer, Galilee invites you to make time for prayer and draw closer to God. Throughout the week, our doors will be open for anyone who wants to come, be still, pray, and seek the presence of the Lord.
Invite a friend or bring your whole family. We have a beautiful sanctuary that is a peaceful oasis in a hectic environment. You can meditate by yourself, but there will also be prayer leaders at specific times who will lead intercessory prayers out loud and can help you make a start if you are new to prayer or returning after a considerable time.
Sign up to join our Prayer Week Team. Team members will sign up for times to lead periods of intercessory prayer.
God is already reaching out to you. Prayer is an opportunity to know our Creator who loves us with infinite, unending, unfailing, love. Let’s pray!
