Our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner on February 17 drew a crowd, and the kitchen (manned by the Galilee Men’s Group and the Community Planning Team) made sure every plate was full and every appetite satisfied.

Around the world, this day goes by many names—Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Carnival, Pancake Day—but its meaning is the same everywhere. It is a moment to gather, laugh, and celebrate together before we enter the quieter, more reflective season of Lent.

To keep the spirit lively, Pastor Steven Carr organized an evening of cheerful competition. Children and adults alike took part in a pancake race, hurrying across the gym with a pancake balanced on a spatula. Teams paired up for a pancake toss, testing how far they could flip their breakfast/dinner from one plate to another. The night concluded with a spirited pancake-eating contest, with Jack Makowski claiming the title.

It was an evening full of laughter, fellowship, and just the right amount of sweetness.

Kudos to whoever tossed a pancake high enough to get stuck behind the backboard of our basketball hoop. That’s quite an arm!
