Snow Policy

Please do not travel if you do not feel safe. If road conditions are questionable, we encourage you to use your best judgment. Your safety comes first.

Please remember to keep giving Even when the building is closed, the church’s expenses continue, and winter weather brings extra costs. Already this season we’ve needed multiple salt/chemical treatments in the parking lot, and when storms come we also pay for salting, shoveling, and related services. If you’re home on a snowy Sunday, thank you for continuing to support Galilee UMC through your giving. Your generosity helps us stay safe, prepared, and ready to welcome everyone back as soon as conditions improve.

Galilee UMC and Galilee Christian School follow Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) weather announcements.

Our Schedule

If LCPS is CLOSED: Galilee UMC and Galilee Christian School are CLOSED.
If LCPS has a DELAY: Galilee UMC and Galilee Christian School will operate on a DELAY.
Sunday services are conducted at the discretion of the pastor. We will make the call as to whether we are closed or open as early as possible in order to ensure maximum safety for all.

Some events may vary based on weather and travel conditions. Please contact the leader of your group for updates on specific events and small groups.

If We Are Closed

If Galilee is closed and our worship team cannot make it to the sanctuary, a past sermon will play on our livestream. We never want to close our doors and will do everything we can to prevent it, but sometimes it happens. If we’re snowed in, we look forward to welcoming you back to church when the weather is better.

Snowfall is a beautiful reminder that God is an artist. Who but a Creator that cares for us would make winter so lovely? Please join us in our prayer that during any storm, all remain safe, and warm, and patient, and aware of God’s love for all people.
