Church Work Day – Spring 2026

Our dream agenda for Spring Work Day is below. Can you bring some tools and help out? Contact Kristen for more information. The work day is March 28, 8-12. There will be plenty of work, but also food and fellowship! Grab a rake or a sponge and work alongside new friends.

We will do some of the following:

Rake and Cleanup

• Clean up lawn and mulch areas for trash, sticks, and other loose debris. Rake any remaining leaves and bag.
• Pull weeds (esp in the playground and other flower beds)
• Tools Needed:  Leaf rakes, gloves, tarp to bundle/move leaf waste
• Supplies Needed: Trash bags, lawn disposal bags

Refresh Mulch

• Break up compacted mulch
• Add fresh mulch where thin
• Re‑establishing clean edges around beds and tree rings
• Tools Needed:  Garden rakes, gloves
• Supplies Needed:  mulch

Shrub Removal

• Dig up the large golden evergreens under the Multipurpose room window
• Replant along the side of the old building

Bush & Shrub Pruning

• Trim Overgrown shrubs
• Trim Dead or damaged branches
• Low tree limbs that obstruct walkways
• Tools Needed:  Loppers, Pole Saw, Pruning shears, hedge trimmers, gloves, tarp for bundling/moving waste
• Supplies needed: twine to bundle branches for disposal

Sidewalk & Hard‑Surface Cleanup (Building Entryways)

• Sweep sidewalks
• Clearing moss or salt residue
• Edging sidewalks and driveways
• Sweep around soffits and ENTRANCES -above and around the doors – to clear debris / webs, etc.
• Tools Needed:  push brooms, whisk brooms, gloves, step ladder, putty knife, window scraper

Flower Bed Weeding

• Pull early weeds
• Loosen compacted soil
• Add compost around perennials
• Areas:  Front of church, memorial garden
• Tools Needed:  shovel, garden rake, trowel, gloves, kneeling pads
• Supplies needed:  compost, flower bed weed and feed

Window & Building Surface Cleaning

• Wash exterior windows and doors
• Remove cobwebs and dirt buildup
• Tools needed:  hose and faucet, squeegee
• Supplies needed:  outdoor window cleaner (attach to hose); outdoor mold/siding cleaner (attach to hose)

Power Wash

• Around front entryway
• Outdoor (back) furniture / benches
• Brick monument/sign
• Tools needed:  power washer, gloves, safety glasses, hose, faucet
• Supplies needed:  outdoor cleaning solution

Flower Planting

• Spring annuals
• Tools needed: trowel / shovels, garden rake
• Supplies needed:  Seeds and/or flower starters

Indoor Spruce Up 

• Use an antibacterial cleaner on high touch surfaces throughout the church, like light switches and door handles (Sponges, 409, Gentle scrubber) – particular focus on bathrooms, hallways, entryways, youth room, children’s Sunday school room, BPB room
• Use a gentle scrubber to clean the wall under the AV booth (Magic eraser)
• Use Murphys Oil Soap and water to clean the wood floor around the choir loft and piano (floor mop, sponges, microfiber cloths)
• Pump up tires on hand carts (backpack buddies and any others)
• Wash/clean walls in the gym and kitchen around the food service window.
• Fix loose door threshold/transition strips (youth room, children’s sunday school room, gym hallway)
• Remove wax from hard surfaces in the pews (any wax on cushions, too?)
