We are glad to share that our friend Pastor Steve Hall, who shepherds our congregation at Lansdowne Woods, has finished his treatment regime for throat cancer. This regime included 35 radiation treatments and nine sessions of chemotherapy. He should return home from the Richmond VA Medical Center by this weekend.
Please lift a prayer of thanks with us that Steve has stayed strong and persevered during this treatment. Pray for his continued healing. It may be several weeks before we know when he will return to the Chapel on Sundays. While Steve is on medical leave, Rev Janet Salbert has stepped in as interim associate pastor to assist our sister congregation.
Steve holds a certificate documenting the successful completion of treatment.
The apostle Paul tells us in Romans, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” and this is the approach that Pastor Steve has taken to his illness, which he has stressed is treatable and beatable.
Our hope is in God, who promises for us peace beyond understanding and joy beyond imagination.
We have been sending cards and messages to Steve continually throughout his time at the Richmond VA Medical Center and will continue to do so as he rests and recovers at home. Chapel member Ruth Smale made a prayer quilt for Pastor Steve. Lansdowne Woods residents and Chapel members prayed for him before presenting it to Steve to keep him warm and comfortable.
