Summer Crew 2021 is underway at Galilee. Believe us when we say that we packed more fun into the past two weeks of summer camp than we’ve had in sixteen months! Sixteen loooong months.

After all we’ve been through with Covid…boy, did we need this!

Whether making crafts or tossing water balloons or showing off blistering licks at our air guitar contest, our kids found that Summer Crew was a place where they could be themselves and express themselves. When we moved to the great outdoors (Bles Park in Ashburn), our campers heard about Jesus’s “sermon on the sea” from Pastor Jason, who joined our crew via kayak. 

You bet fun was had—and important lessons were learned, too. Lessons about confidence.

When kids are taught to see themselves the way that Jesus sees them, real confidence takes root and grows. During lessons and service projects, adult and youth volunteers taught our 37 Summer Crew campers foundational truths about who we are in Christ:

• We are known
• We belong
• We are forgiven
• We can make good choices
• We can make a difference

These kids are awesome. We thank them, and their parents, and our fifteen volunteers for making these two weeks absolutely wonderful.

The past two weeks was for younger kids, kindergarten through fifth grade. Next week begins our third week of summer camp, which is reserved for older kids (middle and high school).
