Parallel to the clean out effort, volunteers began reclaiming and improving church spaces for future ministry use.

In the Adult Flex Room, Galilee members Rodney Collins and Tom Heitfield got to work transforming the space. Rodney cleaned and sorted chairs before Tom painted, helping prepare the room for more effective use by church groups, guests, and ministries.

Elsewhere in the building, a crew consisting of Pastor Steven Carr and Galilee members Ryan McDonnell, his son Hunter, and Devon Reise took Pastor Mike’s recent sermon, “The Holy Spirit removes barriers,” quite literally. The team took down a wall in the church’s original wing, beginning a renovation that combines two small rooms into a larger and more functional conference room or class space. The project retains one closet while creating a second, larger storage area where church papers can be archived.

What began as a cleanup effort quickly became an opportunity to reimagine how church spaces can better support ministry, fellowship, education, and service. We already have an outside congregation exploring use of the new room and staff thinking about the best use of the new space.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated their time, and helped make the day such a success. The work has already created new possibilities for ministry at Galilee, with more improvements still to come.
