This November, our church and community demonstrated the heart of Christ’s teaching—nourishing both body and spirit—through the production of Thanksgiving Break Bags.
The effort began on November 1 with donations collected during Cascades Autumn Day from hayride carriage riders and from Giant grocery store, supported by Galilee volunteers Chris and Carmen, Kathy Butler, Felicia Johnson, and Kathi and Matt Miller. The goods collected at Autumn Day were added to donations brought in by the families at Galilee Christian School, which did their own foodraiser wrapping up on November 7.
On November 8, Scout Troop 1483 delivered nearly 1,500 pounds of food from their annual Scouting for Food event. Galilee volunteers helped weigh and stage the donations. Our thanks go to Roxanne and John Bird, Pat McCarty, Anne and Ben Stewart, Linda Stead, Matt, Kathi and Brad Miller, the Makowski family, and Scouts from Troop 572.
The culmination of this effort was our packing day on November 10, when bags were assembled with love and care by Mark and Kristine Hrbacek, Tom and Julie Dula, Jean and Jeff Appel, Gloria Brabrook, and Linda Stead. Thanks to their hard work, these bags will be delivered to families just in time for children’s Thanksgiving break.
We are especially grateful to Kathi Miller and Felicia Johnson and all our volunteers, whose generosity and dedication remind us of the enduring call to serve others. In feeding families in need, our volunteers embody the spirit of Christ, nourishing both hearts and bodies and spreading hope throughout our community.

Galilee is happy to make folks aware that we have a Christmas Food Drive happening, too. Like the Thanksgiving Break Bags, our Christmas Food Drive will ensure that Backpack Buddies kids go home over the holidays with a bag of healthy and nutritious food items. Most of the collection is happening at Lansdowne Woods, but you can also drop items off at Galilee or make a monetary donation.
This drive is being coordinated by Galilee members George and Gwen Bondon.
