Water Night 2022

All in all, Galilee Youth Group had a pretty normal year—which is saying something these days. Despite social distancing, and mask-wearing, and some annoying *variants,* these kids assembled week after week for Christ-centered lessons, prayer, fellowship, games, fund-raising activities and can castle building, and even a three-church retreat. A “pretty normal year” is something to celebrate, so that’s what Youth Group did on Sunday with “Water Night.” 

On the agenda: dinner and fun. This included a relay race carrying cups of water on a tray, a duck duck goose game with the theme of “drip,  drip, dump,” and plenty of that early summer favorite, water balloons. Everyone got drenched.
 
Sally Lyberger and Suzie Leftwich were there as adult volunteers (who managed to stay dry). “We laughed a lot,” says Sally. “The food was good and even those who said they’d already eaten ate two helpings! Thank you, Youth parents. You really came through!”
 
“The youth have formed a very cohesive group,” reports Suzie. “They are a very easy going and happy and know how to have fun.”
 

Lisa Collins, Galilee’s Youth Coordinator, noted in her remarks at Graduate Recognition Sunday that this generation of students have had only three semesters of normalcy over the last four years. She said, “If you’re looking to see what perseverance looks like, look at these kids.”

The Bible says this about trials and perseverance:

“Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

Our thanks goes to every volunteer who helped Galilee make a place where these teens could come, relax with friends, and be fed the Spirit.
