Galilee celebrated a brilliant day on Tuesday, October 3, when we welcomed a team from WGTS Christian radio station to hold a sticker stop on our sidewalk from 10am to 6pm.
We didn’t know what to expect exactly, as this was a first for Galilee, but it was wonderful. WGTS team members Ken Scribner, Tom Ozio, and Victor Muzica set up a tent full of every kind of swag imaginable: keychains, bumper stickers, magnets, hand sanitizer, frisbees, pens and pencils, silly putty, and more. Pretty soon, the loyal listening base of WGTS began appearing to collect some goodies and say hello. We got to see how WGTS was more than just a radio station. It’s a supportive community of people who are enthusiastic about Christ.
David Higgins of Montclair, VA with WGTS’s Ken Scribner. David is a WGTS listener who loves to serve. He brought 78 boxes of cereal to Galilee and has donated 432 boxes at WGTS Sticker Stops since June.
The WGTS crew didn’t just hand out stickers. They prayed with those who came up to the tent and they asked Galilee’s staff and clergy to pray with them, too. They encouraged listeners to donate cereal boxes to Backpack Buddies. When the listeners came, we opened our church doors to them, sharing the beauty of our sanctuary and showing them how our food pantry works.
Pastor Jason was interviewed on air, as was our Director of Serve Ministries, Felicia Johnson, and several of the folks who just stopped by. We saw many of our regular members who testified to their love of WGTS. We also had a visit from Pastor Geitra Mickelson, now serving at Centerville UMC. She was in her car and heard that WGTS was at Galilee, so she headed right over.

We were also able to connect with John Hill and his wife, Lindsay. They run the DMV Chocolate and Coffee Expo that is happening this weekend at the Dulles Expo Center. They are faithful listeners to WGTS and are happy to count the station as corporate sponsors for their expo. But John had another reason to stop by the Sticker Stop. He grew up at Galilee! He went to preschool here, was a member of the youth ministry and VBS crews during Pastor Snead’s time, and even used to run the soundboard in our AV Booth. It was a pleasure to welcome John back home.

A big thank you goes out to Olivia Shah, who served as the bridge between Galilee and WGTS. Olivia has been attending Galilee since her earliest youth. As a young professional, she’s taken her faith to work as a nutrition specialist at Loudoun County public schools and as volunteer at WGTS events. It was Olivia who let Ken Scribner, the station’s Director of Promotions, know about this special church off Route 28 called Galilee. Thanks Olivia!
