This weekend’s Mission Fund Rummage Sale was a wonderful success, and that success belongs to many hands.
Thank you to the volunteers who spent hours sorting, organizing, pricing, hauling, arranging, and cheerfully helping shoppers discover unexpected treasures. There are too many names to list, but every helping hand mattered. Thank you as well to everyone who donated items, and to all who came out to browse, buy, and support the sale.

Just as important as what was sold is what those proceeds make possible.
Galilee’s Mission Fund is supporting the Da’nmusue Charity Foundation, helping impoverished, blind, and otherwise vulnerable residents of Lunsar, Sierra Leone. This ministry resonates deeply with Galilee, given our church’s long history of mission partnership in Sierra Leone.

The Mission Fund also gave $1,000 to Helping Children Worldwide, in order to help pack a shipping container of much-needed supplies bound for Mercy Hospital in Bo, Sierra Leone.
Closer to home, Mission Fund dollars help power local service opportunities, including SummerServe, where middle and high school students volunteer with community partners, first responders, and ministries like Mobile Hope.
Celebrate summer with us at our Block Party Community Health Event
The fund also helps support welcoming outreach events like our upcoming Block Party Community Health Day. While a grant from the denomination will cover the distribution of medical kits, Mission Fund dollars go to paying for food, music, and hospitality, the touches that make the event fun, welcoming, and attractive to families.
This fall, Galilee’s International Mission Team returns to the Dominican Republic, and there is still room on the team. The trip is scheduled for October 27 through November 3. Foreign mission trips are life-changing acts of faith, opportunities to serve in Christ’s name while building relationships that endure far beyond the trip itself. These are just a few of the ways the annual rummage sale turns unwanted belongings into tangible acts of mercy, service, and hope, both in our neighborhood and around the world.
