Lent is a time when Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, and spiritual discipline. The starting point of Lent, Ash Wednesday (March 6), emphasizes two themes: our sinfulness before God and our mortality.
If we have differences as believers, these commonalities at least unite us. None of us is perfect. None of us is self-sufficient. Good news, then, that what also unites us is the love that God has for us. It isn’t a lukewarm love. He loves us so much that he sent his son for us. For all of us.
That’s the love that you are asked to share with the world when you follow Jesus. Love “with all your heart.”
